Children's Ministries

There are  many opportunities for spiritual development available to your child here at Dorrisville Baptist Church. We are dedicated to offering the best possible environment, leadership and Bible teaching for preschool (bed babies through kindergarten) and school-aged (grades 1-6) children. Our aim is that every experience a child has here at DBC will move him/her toward spiritual, mental, and physical maturity. We view our work with children as a ministry to the child and also to the family.

In keeping with our responsibility to provide good experiences with our children, we adopted a Child Protection Policy which includes all our Preschool, Children's, and Youth ministry teachers. To read this policy please click here.

Our Sunday School program, on Sundays at 9:00 a.m.are divided by age and development within the preschool area. The Preschool divisions are Bed Babies/Crawlers/Walkers/Toddlers, 2 & 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds, and kindergargen. Class sizes are kept small, for security as well as for better teacher/child relationships. In the children's area classes are divided by school grade. In addition to Sunday School, Special Events, such as parties, field trips, and service projects are scheduled from time to time in our Children's division. Any activity which requires your child to leave the DBC grounds also requires that we have a current permission slip on file.

During the school year Children's Choir meets from 6:15 - 7:00 on Sunday afternoons. Before children's choir, on Sunday evenings at 5:15, during the school year,  we have Bible Drills for children, grades 1-6. They memorize scripture, learn the books of the Bible and compete on the local, associational, and state level for awards. They work during the school year on their memorization and Bible skills in preparation for their competitions in April. 

All-Star Basketball i& Volleyball s a Christ centered, sportsmanship focused sports program for boys and girls in grades K-8. Practices are held once a week and during the playing season, January through February, games are held every Saturday. For more information see the box at the bottom of this page.

Mission Organizations (Mission Friends, RA's, GA's & Youth) all meet on Wednesday evenings. Classes begin at 6:00 pm. 

Mission Friends - a mission training organization for Preschool children to participate in hands-on activities. Songs and stories pertaining to Southern Baptist Missionaries are also part of the organization. Classes are available for children ages 2 years through those in kindergarten. Mission Friends meets at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.

RA's - Royal Ambassador's is a mission organization for our boys in the 1st through 6th grades. Gym time, mission projects, and mission study are all incorporated into this "hands-on" mission organization.RA's meet at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.

GA's - Girls in Action is a mission organization for girls in the 1st through 6th grades. Mission action projects, camps, and workbooks are some of the activities in which the girls participate while learning about Southern Baptist Missionaries. GA's meets at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Vacation Bible School is held each summer and is open to children in the community entering kindergarten through sixth grade. VBS is filled with fun activities, Bible teaching and crafts. Our focus during the program is evangelism .
